Welcome to Year 2
Our classes are 2 Spain and 2 France.
This half term, our topic is 'Folktales from Around the World'.
In English, we will be reading 'Lila and the Secret of the Rain' and 'Pattan's Pumpkin'. We will be writing our own re-tellings of the story, instructions for growing a pumpkin and lullabies.
We are continuing with Read Write Inc to help with our reading, and also practising our comprehension skills in daily reading sessions.
In Foundation, we are learning about the habitats of living things in Science, comparing England and Kenya in Geography, and practising our making skills in D.T.
In Maths, we are embedding our number skills; practising partitioning and writing numbers up to 100. We will also be doing Rainbow Maths every Friday.
- Weekly spellings will be sent out on a Friday and tested the following Friday. Please find these attached at the bottom of the page. Weekly spellings can be practised online on Spelling Shed:
- Weekly mathletics is also set that links up with our maths focus of the week. https://login.mathletics.com/
- Daily reading.
Resources such as J2e and Busy Things can be accessed by typing 'LGFL My USO' into your browser and using your child's logons which are sent home near the beginning of term.
On J2e, click on shared folders to see the class and this will show you activities for the children to complete. You can write straight onto the documents and then to save just press the back arrow in the top left hand corner.
Our class code for BusyThings is bug76
