Our Year Groups

Welcome to Year 2

All our classes are named after famous artists. Year 2 classes are
2 Van Gogh, after the Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh, and 2 Picasso, after the Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. Our Year 2 teachers are Mr Brooksbank, Miss Gordine and Miss Poole.

This year children will study a range of topics with a History and Geography focus. These include Queen Victoria, The World, The Dark & The Great Fire of London.

Autumn term two

This half-term children will have a History focus to their learning with their topic centred around 'The dark'. Children will learn about the history of the lightbulb, famous inventors and nocturnal animals. Our learning will be guided using two short stories; The Dark and The Owl who was afraid of the dark.

The Dark: Amazon.co.uk: Snicket, Lemony, Klassen, Jon: 9781408330036: Books The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark

In Maths, we will focus upon the operations of addition and subtraction and written methods associated with them. Take a look at the attached Maths yearly overview to see all the topics we will cover this year.
