Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s great to see the children back for the final half term of the academic year! This week has seen some super History learning in action; class photos were taken; 5 Turner and 6 Hockney began their swimming sessions for the term; Year 5 started with their Millwall ‘Joy of Movement’ sessions; Year 6 took part in Cycle Confident sessions and clubs have re-commenced which will end on Monday 6^th July for the year. 4 Kahlo also attended Southwark Park Gallery to help display their recent lovely artwork with a local artist – further details below regarding the grand opening next Monday which parents and carers are invited to!

Our Collective Worship theme for this week has seen us begin to explore our school vision of ‘Let your light shine’ and our school aims and values with the children. This week – ‘Loving to Learn!’.

Class Photos
Children had their class photos taken on Tuesday – QR codes should have come home so you can view these and purchase if you wish. We’ll let you know/send home with children when they arrive to school should you choose that option for delivery.

4 Kahlo Southwark Park Art Exhibition
Earlier this term, Year 4 Kahlo took part in an Art Workshop organised by Southwark Park Gallery, led by artist Tabitha Weddell. The children explored themes of nature and place, creating individual clay pieces that have been brought together to form a large-scale nature world map which will be on display at Southwark Park Gallery. We are delighted to invite parents and carers to a special preview event on Monday - 8^th June - from 14:30 to 15:30. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the children's work on display and celebrate their creativity and hard work. Parents and carers who attend are welcome to take their child home directly from the gallery at the end of the event. Children whose parents or carers are unable to attend will be accompanied back to school by staff and are expected to return by approximately 16:00 – PLEASE NOTE THE LATER FINISH TIME ON MONDAY! We hope you can join us for this special occasion.

 

Year 3 & 5 Change of PE Kit Day Next Week
Please note a swap of PE kit days NEXT WEEK ONLY to accommodate Year 3’s trip to the British Museum on Thursday:

• Year 3 should wear PE kits to school on TUESDAY next week;
• Year 5 should wear PE kits to school on THURSDAY next week. Additional swimming and Joy of Movement sessions on Monday remain unchanged.
   

Shout Out Youth Theatre and Sports Camp
Join Mr Brenta and Miss Jess for a fantastic week of sport and performing arts during the summer holidays. A week packed with games, challenges, singing, dancing, drama, and plenty of fun! 📆Monday 20^th July - Friday 24^th July; ⏰9:00am - 4:00pm daily; Available to all Key Stage 2 children; 💷 £25 per day or book the full 5-day week for only £100! St. James’s Church ‘Toast’ After School Every Wednesday
Please again find a flier attached advertising weekly ‘Toast’ sessions at St. James’s Church. Pop along to church each Wednesday with your children to meet Katie and Dom, spend time with one another as a community and get to know the church team and each other. This will happen each Wednesday during term time and promises a weekly hangout for children and parents.

Monday 8th	Year 5 continue sessions with Millwall for ‘Joy of Movement’ sports each week – PE KITS ON ADDITIONAL DAY; 4 Kahlo art exhibition in Southwark Park – details above; 5 Turner and 6 Hockney taking part in swimming lessons each Monday at Downside Fisher – SWIMMING KITS PLEASE; Monday enrichment clubs continue after school – these finish at 16:15 (Alexis St) and 16:30 (OJR).
Tuesday 9th	Year 5&6 Girls’ Cricket competition – separate invitation; Year 5 Boys’ football after school – separate invitation.
Wednesday 10th	Year 5&6 Boys’ Cricket competition – separate invitation; Reception trip to the Young V&A; Year 3 Gardening workshop with Borough Market.
Thursday 11th	Year 3 Trip to British Museum; Year 6 Trip to Science Museum; Year 5 ‘Mini-Police’ citizenship course continues.
Friday 12th	Year 4 Gold trip – separate invitation.
