A Message from the Governing Body - November 2026
The Governing Body of St. James’ Church of England Primary School is consulting on proposed admission arrangements for Reception entry in September 2028. (Full details & Draft Policy are listed under 'Announcements').
We propose reducing Foundation places from 20 to 10 and increasing Open places from 40 to 50. The Published Admission Number will remain at 60.
The Governing Body wishes to review the balance of places to meet the needs of the school and wider local community while maintaining St. James’ distinctive Christian character. If adopted, fewer places would be allocated specifically under the church criteria, with more places available through the remaining admissions criteria. Applicants who do not secure a Foundation place would still be considered under the next applicable criteria.
We are consulting in advance of the September 2028 intake because changes to admission arrangements require consultation. No final decision has been made. All responses received during the consultation will be considered before the Governing Body decides whether to adopt the proposal after the consultation closes.

The consultation period will run from 9th November 2026 - 21st December 2026, inclusive.
