Latests Newsletter - Friday 6 June 2025
It has been a great start to our final half term of this academic year! Children have approached new learning, books, and topics with gusto and are really in the swing of things already. Library visits have resumed, with 1 Matisse, 1 Rousseau and 2 Picasso all attending. 6 Hockney begin their series of swimming lessons at Downside Fisher; Y5 have continued their ‘Mini-Police’ Junior Citizenship course and I’m thrilled with our Y5 & 6 Athletics team who won a tournament at Southwark Park against local schools with the PE Network – very well done to them!
Our Collective Worship theme has started to focus on ‘Heroes of the Faith’. This week we learnt about a local hero – Pat O’Connor (one of our governors, who used to run our wraparound care provision) – who was recently awarded the Lancelot Andrewes medal for services to the gospel. We’re very proud of her for such an achievement!
Our full newsletter is attached below and contains lots of information on upcoming events, together with the Diary Dates Sheet. This is such a busy term; do check these regularly for updates. Also attached is a flyer regarding a bike sale and information for next year's Year 6 children (currently Year 5) regarding their residential trip in June 2026.
Wishing you, our children, and our whole school community a super weekend!
God bless, from the St. James’ team.
