In July 2016 we received our Bronze Healthy Schools award, about which we are very proud. At St James' we strive to ensure all of our pupils are healthy, both on the inside and out.
MILE A WEEK - have a look at the photos in the Healthy Schools Gallery
As part of our continuous commitment to promote a healthy lifestyle, we are pleased to announce we are introducing a ‘Mile a week’ initiative on a Monday afternoon for all children and staff. This will be a chance for everybody to participate in walking or running a mile at their own pace.
Please note this will be in addition to the children’s normal PE skills based lessons. We would ask therefore that PE kits come into school on a Monday for all children and taken home to wash after their PE lessons during the week – we also thought if this happens it would save confusion when PE days change after a half term and the children would always have their kits ready to use.
I’m also pleased to announce that swimming has been booked for the whole year for years 1-6 and children will have their 6 weeks swimming programmes. It was really frustrating for all of us when the pool let us down so often last year so we have changed venue.
Year 6 children will begin the year this term and Mr. Griffin will send out separate letters during the course of the year to tell you when the children will have their lessons.
Please send all children with their PE kits in a bag into school every Monday.
