St James' CE Primary School The London Borough of Southwark (Pedestrian and cycle zones) (St James' CE Primary School) Traffic Order 202* The Southwark School Streets Programme aims to create a pleasant environment that feels safer in the immediate vicinity of a school, discourage travelling to school by car in cases where alternative means of travel are available, and encourage walking, scooting and cycling to school, thereby achieving positive health outcomes for the school community. The intention of this Order is to introduce a timed pedestrian and cycle zone in Alexis Street and Linsey Street so as to encourage road safety and improve air quality in the areas surrounding the St James' CE Primary School (South Bermondsey ward), in the London Borough of Southwark. All motor vehicles except permit holders would be prohibited from entering or proceeding in that part of Alexis Street (which includes Linsey Street) that lies west of the western kerb-line of Macks Road, between 8.45 am and 9.15 am and between 3.15 pm and 3.45 pm (Monday to Friday, during school term time, as determined by the St James' CE Primary School). Permits allowing vehicles to enter the ‘School Streets’ pedestrian and cycle zone would be available to residents of premises located within the zone, to registered carers or residents of premises located within the zone, to disabled person’s blue badge holders who are school staff, carers or dropping off and/or collecting pupils to the school and to SEND vehicles, by application to the Council. Exemptions would also apply in respect of emergency service vehicles. This Order would revoke and supersede the existing similar trial provisions in Alexis Street and Linsey Street.
