Welcome back to St. James’ after the Summer break – and welcome to our school community for our many new starters! It’s lovely to see the children and hear about their long holidays. Children seem really happy in their new classes; Year 3 have had a terrific and seamless transition to Alexis St, and our new Nursery and Reception starters continue to begin school gradually to ensure they are happy and settled in their new environments.

This week we had a lovely ‘Welcome Back’ service on Tuesday with Vicars Katie and Dominic where our Head Girl and Boy, their deputies, and our Junior Faith Committee were announced.

We hope you've all had a lovely, long summer break! As per the e-mail sent at the end of term, do find attached the gates/entrances for each year group as a reminder. Do be prompt - our start times are 08:45 - Alexis St and 09:00 - Old Jamaica Road.

News starters in Nursery/Reception, please still refer to your staggered start times which were given to you separately regarding starting days and attend on the dates provided in the summer term.

Little Digital Helps Toolkit

internetmatters.org have partnered with Tesco to develop digital toolkits to help families set controls and privacy settings on new and old devices that they use, along with plenty of advice on how to deal with online risks. They've included tips on how to make the most of a digital world, based on what children like to do.

Sometimes it is difficult to set digital boundaries about amount of use, what is suitable and how we should all behave online. Agreeing ground rules for devices in and out of the home can help to have everyone working from the same page. Use the template we have attached below from internetmatters.org to help your family agree what is right for you.

Stepping Away from Digital Distraction

Everyone can have a difficult moment from time to time. Being constantly online can make students feel like there's not enough time to gather their thoughts.

These short meditation videos can help you step away from digital distractions and get through to the other side.

If you are a parent/carer of a child(ren) at school and are worried about your child’s health and wellbeing, school nurses are here to help. We work in teams across Southwark and Lambeth and you can contact us for confidential advice and support on a wide range of issues. Please see our flyer attached below for further details of the services we can offer.
